If you’re ready to make this year your most intentional yet — filled with joy, growth, and the freedom to truly live — stick around because I’m sharing how I’m taking things to the next level in my life, and I want you to join me! The motto for this year is #ThriveIn2025. And, if the fact that it rhymes doesn’t convince you about the endless positive possibilities you have to live your life to the fullest… Give it another try.
This year, I’ve decided to stop — or drastically reduce — overthinking and do more of what brings me joy, and I hope it inspires you to do the same. As someone who loves life and enjoys ensuring alignment with myself, I’ve outlined six (6) things I will be doing to thrive in 2025. They are so simple yet so invigorating:
- Cultivate micro habits that transform my mindset and inner world.
- Pursue professional growth by chasing opportunities and upskilling with purpose.
- Prioritise personal development and self-discovery.
- Move my body and exercise to boost energy and joy.
- Show up consistently on social media and share my journeys.
- Adopt micro habits that enhance my daily life and external environment.
Why Am I Taking This Approach, And Why 2025?
I’ve been doing these things for a while, and they’ve made a difference in my life. But every new day, every new year is a chance to take it up a notch, right? This year, I’m leveling up these habits and embracing new challenges — and I want to take you all along with me.
Micro habits to transform our inner world
I’ve always been about creating habits that help me grow internally, but this year, I’m digging deeper into how to make those habits stick and show up as an even better version of me. Because, as we all know, the most impactful transformations start from the inside.
The Plan:
- Intentional nutrition: Drinking more water and herbal teas, and eating more nourishing foods with a focus on gut health.
- Mind & Mood Boosters: Brief meditations, journaling, breathworks, morning affirmations, nightly affirmations, morning pages, creative dumps, to-do lists, planning, notes… There are many ways to express gratitude, stay in touch with ourselves, and organise our plans.
- Supplements: I’ve said jokingly for a couple of years now that I’m certain supplements have improved my life. But it’s only half a joke. In the times when my schedule has been stressful, taking supplements for energy and well-being has significantly enhanced my physical well-being and health.
- Tracking progress in a low-pressure way: I do not subscribe to anything high-pressure in this life. I can do without it, for real. I rely on simple ways to check in without being overwhelmed.
- Cycle syncing: How I love this one. This is one of the top discoveries I have made about myself as an adult, and the only way is forward. Learning how my health, mood, and productivity are affected by the phases of my menstrual cycle has been instrumental in advancing my self-regulation and emotional intelligence. I need the menstruating folks to give it a go.
Prioritising personal development and self-discovery
Personal growth has always been a big part of my journey, but this year, I’m all about diving deeper into self-awareness and unlocking new layers of myself.
The Plan:
- Intentional learning: Taking courses, doing self-reflection exercises, acquiring new and exciting skills, reading more, listening more, and engaging in deep conversations.
- Balancing ambition with rest: Thriving without burnout and taking breaks without guilt… This is the way.
- Embracing change with curiosity: Positive change is always welcome. But challenges will always show up. When the change is not to my taste, I am learning to allow myself to wonder what I can learn from it. Challenges make us more resilient. They help us grow.
- Emotional Intelligence: Managing my reactions to situations better and honing my self-awareness and awareness of others have been wonderfully enlightening experiences for me in recent years. I’m always open to becoming better at this, and we should all be.
Pursuing professional growth through upskilling and stacking skills
My professional development has always been a priority, and this year, I’m actively seeking new opportunities and challenges that push me out of my comfort zone and take me to uncharted places.
The Plan:
- Upskilling (free and paid resources): Deepening the proficiency of my existing skill set and getting specific certifications and training related to my preferred or proposed job role are two of my goals to advance my professional life this year.
- Sharpening our personal brands: I am defining my unique value, identifying my target audience (clients, employers, or both), and consistently showcasing my expertise and values through my online presence and actions. Again, I do most of it at my convenience and in my lane, so figure out what feels genuine to you.
- Networking without feeling awkward: The idea of “networking” is one I’ve struggled to align with. So, I’m coming up with my version of networking that suits my personality and goals, focusing on building a strong network and delivering value to others.
- Skill Stacking: My first instinct is to apply for free programmes whenever I discover them. I’ve officially passed the age for some free resources — I’m pained… That’s a story for another day. It’s also a sign of advancement, for which I’m grateful. But, yes, I do love to learn and build a diverse range of complementary skills from different fields, creating a broader skillset.
- Chasing Aligned Opportunities: Applying for dream opportunities and saying no to jobs that don’t serve our growth. I’m making career moves this year and opening myself up to new career opportunities that allow me to work on diverse projects I’m passionate about.
Moving our bodies more
Exercise is a non-negotiable, but I’m now exploring ways to move that bring me even more joy, playfulness, and freedom.
The Plan:
- Exploring fun workouts: Making fitness enjoyable; dancing, stretching, kick-boxing, and more. Maybe I’ll get into walking at some point. I don’t know.
- Listening to our bodies: I’ve been listening to my body instead of forcing workouts, and practicing rest and recovery without guilt. This might be the one I do the most.
- Focusing on strength & longevity over aesthetics: It feels good to look good, of course, and that’s also part of the goal. But, it is not a priority or the result I’m going for. I want my body to continue to support me, meaning I must keep it mobile and agile. Pilates helps. I can really feel it.
- Tracking Strength & Stamina Gains: Celebrating my progress after every single session, because I showed up! It doesn’t matter for how long. It adds up. We are consistent because we’re building habits that will make it second-nature to us.
Sharing our journey on social media to help others
Posting on social media has always been an outlet for me. This year, I’m leveling up my content to bring more authenticity, creativity, and connect with communities.
The Plan:
- Overcoming Fear: Done > Perfect. Any time, any day. Although I am still learning that, and I’ll keep you posted. I want to be able to share key activities and milestones of some — if not all — of my journeys so they can be used as templates. Because why go through a process the hard way when you can hack it?
- Overcoming fear of judgment: “But to make yourself feel nothing so as not to feel anything — what a waste!” Mr. Perlman from the movie Call Me By Your Name. The entire monologue was fire, but that last quote… hmmm. And I think it applies here. ‘What will people say?’ has kept most of us from doing the amazing things we’re capable of. Plus, it’s a waste of time.
- Creating Consistently: Finding a flow that works. Presently, I listen to my body and adjust my schedule (which I do have) accordingly. I remind myself that while I have a content creation framework, it does not dictate my life. And it certainly doesn’t override the main reason I document parts of my life — to reach out to like-minds and kindred spirits and create a community that helps us stay focused on the right things, and evolve masterfully.
- Engaging with people and building connections: Speaking of building a community, engaging with people doesn’t have to be a formulated approach. That could even leave things on a superficial level when there is a chance for more. Let’s talk to each other.
Enhancing our daily lives and our external environment.
I’m building my micro habits, but now it’s time to align my space and environment with my vision, and watch how that energy flows.
The Plan:
- Decluttering & curating our space: Making my home a sanctuary by creating intentional spaces and curating their use. My home has always been my safe space, beautiful bubble, and comforting cave… It’s where all my senses are the most active, so it must stay clutter-free. I cannot operate in an untidy or aesthetically displeasing space or rowdy place (when it’s not designed for that purpose — a concert, for example).
- Regularise cleaning days: Having specific days dedicated to cleaning on a schedule. This way, we don’t always have to wait for those few times a year when we’re forced to do an overwhelming maintenance or deep cleaning. Frequent intentional cleaning of my space helps to ensure I don’t wake up one day, and if cleaning doesn’t happen, I’m suddenly in a pigsty.
- Decorating: I love a good decorative piece, and it’s always a mix of high-end and whatever I think is cute — artwork, a sculptur, a pretty bottle, a candle, handmade craft… if I see the beauty in it and it can stay in my space without cluttering it, then it stays.
- Disposing of unused or outdated things: I am a reforming semi-hoarder. So this is especially crucial for me. I just mentioned how I could consider many things to be decor, meaning I struggle to dispose of certain items. I also care about the environment and look to recycling or upcycling items before throwing them away. I’m also really sentimental. You see where this is going? This means I must be deliberate about what I keep in my space. It has to matter. It has to be an addition.
- Pristine Personal Presentation: Hair, skincare, nails, hygiene, wardrobe evolution. Now, the idea is to form micro-habits that keep us looking our best without trying hard. You know, we have to do it softly. There are a host of things I have listed to meet this target, thanks to all the phenomenal ladies on YouTube and in the world that I constantly learn from. From a nice regular shower, moisturisation, hydration, sleep, to nutrition… I’m personalising my glow-up because it’s a lifelong quest.
- Upgrading our wardrobe & personal style: Owning our presence confidently and dressing how we want to, not how society dictates. This is one key way that we’re elevating our external presentation.
